5th Annual Snow Shoe the Bear. Rain or SHINE, Snow or No, it’s a GO.
As was the case in ’11, the conditions may be less than premium powder , but the event is STILL a blast. We’ll keep you updated on conditions, but bring the gang, it’s a GO.

Keep the training going, and keep the snow shoes handy. It’s been an incredibly dry/warm winter, but that’s about to change. Big Bear is notorious for having dry January and early February, but it ALWAYS comes around in mid-late February.
We’re looking for volunteers for this years event- please reach out to race Co-director Paul Romero. Looking for volunteers to assist in the coming days before the race, and race day for Reg, SET UP and BREAK DOWN! Get involved! It’s a pretty fun group of peeps.

Full moon snow shoe going on Feb 7. Meet at 2n08/Knickerbocher 5pm. 2 mile, all levels, BYOBeverage…and be ready for predicted weather.

The snow shoe 5k and 10k course are all SET for the Feb 25 event. Stay tuned for more details, in the mean time…REGISTER!!!!

Don’t think there is enough snow to warrant snowshoes….. But let’s go anyways!

Meet at Knickerbocker and 2N08 at 6 p.m.

Bring hiking shoes, gloves, poles (if you want) and a thermos of hot toddies of your choice.

The moon is supposed to be BIG (hope we can see if through the clouds!).

FULL MOON SNOW SHOE Feb 18

We will have fresh snow by Feb 18! You’ve not lived till you’ve snow shoe’d in the full moon of Big Bear. It’s a 1-1.5 hr round trip hike (at a casual pace) to an amazing lookout point. Bring the basics, plus hot toddie/snacks.

Meet 5:30pm at Knickerbocker and 2n08 (moon rises at 6:30). Snow Shoe rentals available ALL OVER BIG BEAR.
Dress warm.

As of today 1/29 and unless it snows and is noted on this site, SNOWSHOES ARE OPTIONAL. Your choice of footwear, i.e. running shoes, spikes, cleats, snowshoes, etc. Skis, sleds, etc. and anything that goes against the spirit of the event are not allowed. If you are unsure of your footwear choice, ask us.
